How it works

  1. 01

    Evaluation

We review your health history, current medications, goals and body composition, and order labs when they are needed.

  2. 02

    Your plan

If medication is appropriate for you, our Nurse Practitioner prescribes it and sets a starting dose. Nutrition and habits are part of the plan from day one.

  3. 03

    A guided start

You sign the consent forms, learn how to take your medication and know exactly what to expect in the first weeks.

  4. 04

    Monthly follow-up

We track your progress, adjust the dose when it makes sense and stay available on WhatsApp between visits.

What is medical weight loss?

Medical weight loss is a weight loss plan led by a licensed clinician instead of a generic diet. It starts with an evaluation of your history, metabolism and goals, and it can combine prescription medication, nutrition guidance and regular check-ins.

The goal is steady progress you can keep. That is why our programs run as a monthly membership with ongoing follow-up, not as one-off visits.

Which weight loss medications do you prescribe?

Most of our patients follow a GLP-1 based program. The most common option is tirzepatide, a once-weekly injection that acts on two hormone pathways involved in appetite and blood sugar. Other GLP-1 options, such as semaglutide, may be considered when they fit your case better.

Medication is prescribed only after your evaluation and only when it is clinically appropriate. We always refer to medications by their generic names.

Who is a good candidate?

GLP-1 medications are generally considered for adults with a BMI of 30 or higher, or 27 or higher with a weight-related health condition such as high blood pressure or prediabetes.

They are not right for everyone. People who are pregnant or planning a pregnancy, or who have a personal or family history of certain thyroid cancers, are usually not candidates. Our Nurse Practitioner screens for this at your evaluation.

Why patients in Orlando choose Homa

You are followed by the same team every month, in English, Spanish or Portuguese. Our clinic is on Vineland Road in the Dr. Phillips area, close to I-4, Kissimmee and Windermere.

Weight loss can also be part of a bigger picture. When it makes sense, we look at hormones, energy and nutrient levels in the same plan.

Frequently asked questions

How much does medical weight loss cost in Orlando?

At Homa Institute, membership plans start at $149.90 per month, with a one-time $100 enrollment fee and a 6-month minimum. Medication is billed separately. Your exact plan is confirmed at your evaluation.

How fast will I lose weight?

It varies from person to person and depends on your starting point, dose, nutrition and consistency. We do not promise a specific number. We measure your progress every month and adjust the plan with you.

What are the common side effects of GLP-1 medication?

The most common are nausea, reduced appetite, constipation or diarrhea, especially when the dose increases. Starting low and increasing gradually helps. Our team guides you and adjusts the plan if side effects get in the way.

What happens when I stop the medication?

Some people regain weight after stopping. That is why your plan includes nutrition and habit changes from the beginning, and why our Nurse Practitioner plans the next steps with you before any change in medication.

Do I have to come to the clinic every month?

We see patients in person at our Orlando clinic, and many check-ins happen by telehealth and WhatsApp. That makes it easier for patients coming from Kissimmee, Windermere, Winter Garden and other nearby areas.

Do you offer care in Spanish and Portuguese?

Yes. Our team cares for patients in English, Spanish and Portuguese, from the first message to your follow-up visits.
